Os dois únicos atores fixos em todos os episódios eram Ricardo Montalban e o anão Hervé Villechaize. Hervé Villechaize, quatro anos antes, havia participado do filme 007 contra o Homem da Pistola de Ouro, como Nick Nack, mordomo de Francisco Scaramanga, "o Homem da Pistola de Ouro". Ironicamente, ou não, tanto Scaramanga quanto Roarke costumavam se vestir da mesma forma: Terno branco contrastando com gravata preta. O astro da série, Ricardo Montalban, interpretou um dos maiores vilões da saga de Jornada nas Estrelas, Khan, no episódio "Sementes do Espaço" ("Space Seed") da série clássica e no segundo filme para cinema, Jornada nas Estrelas II - A Ira de Khan. A série A Ilha da Fantasia teve 157 episódios de 60 minutos de duração. Em 1983, a Warner Bros. produziu um filme de animação chamado " Daffy Duck's Movie: Fantastic Island ", onde selecionaram Daffy Duck (pensado no Senhor Roarke) e Speedy Gonzales (pensado no pequeno Tattoo) para serem os acolhedores da ilha. A trilha de fundo também tem uma sinfonia bastante parecida com a da série. A paródia também fez sucesso no Brasil e em Portugal, onde foi editado a VHS (mais tarde foi a DVD) nos países. Em Portugal, o VHS/DVD foi o último DVD dos Looney Tunes, da coleção Warner Kids. No Brasil [ editar | editar código-fonte] Foi apresentada pela Rede Globo na década de 1980, no horário nobre e depois na Sessão Aventura. Em 1987 estreou na TV Manchete, sendo exibido diariamente às 19h30. Entre os anos de 1989 e 1991 foi apresentada nas madrugadas da Manchete até desaparecer da programação da emissora. Em 2004, depois de longa ausência na TV brasileira, a série voltou a ser exibida pela Rede 21 e pelo canal TCM diariamente. Também foi exibida pela Rede Brasil de Televisão e pela Ulbra TV.
